Desde la Isla hasta El Barrio
Trenton Puerto Rican History
Exploring the History, Culture and Contributions of Puerto Ricans in Trenton, New Jersey
English Version:
"Bubbles," also known as Roberto Clemente Park, served as a popular gathering spot for Puerto Ricans. Situated in the heart of the barrio, it was most renowned for its pool and basketball courts. Here, a group of young Puerto Ricans, "The Bubble Bunch," gathered regularly to engage in sports, particularly basketball. Competing against other community groups, they became the team everyone wanted to challenge, leaving a lasting impact on the park and the Old Trenton Neighborhood. Below you can find a video with their theme song. Were you or someone you know part of the “Bubble Bunch” ? We would love to hear from you and learn more about the group.
